What IFSpotters collects, why, and where it is stored. This describes what the service actually does.
1. What we collect
We never hold your password itself. Clerk handles authentication.
- ·Your email address and what's needed to sign you in (a password hash, or your Google account identifier if you use that)
- ·Your display name and Infinite Flight Community username
- ·The photos you upload and the details attached to them (aircraft, airline, airport, server, category, title, notes)
- ·Records of photo views and likes
- ·How many photos you have uploaded today, to enforce the daily limit
2. Why we collect it
We do not use any of this for advertising, and we do not sell it.
- ·To run the site — showing photos, search, and photographer credits
- ·To build the access ranking
- ·To enforce the daily upload limit
- ·To tell you why a photo was deleted or an account suspended
- ·To contact you individually when needed
3. Where it is stored
The site relies on the following providers, and data is held with each of them.
- ·Clerk — authentication, email address, display name, IFC username, role
- ·Neon (PostgreSQL, Singapore) — photo metadata, view and like records, a copy of your display name
- ·Cloudflare R2 (Asia-Pacific) — the images themselves
- ·Upstash Redis — your daily upload count
- ·Vercel — site hosting, server logs, and anonymized page-view counts (Vercel Web Analytics)
- ·Resend — sending notification emails
- ·Stripe (via Clerk) — payment details for the paid plan. We never hold card details
4. What is public
The following is visible to anyone, including signed-out visitors.
- ·Your uploaded photos and their metadata
- ·Your display name and Infinite Flight Community username
- ·View and like counts on each photo
- ·Your photographer page statistics (uploads, views, aircraft types, join date)
5. What is not public
- ·Your email address — only the operator can see it, in the admin screen
- ·Who liked which photo — only the totals are shown
- ·Anything to do with payments
6. Cookies and browser storage
No advertising or tracking cookies are used.
Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views for us, doesn't use cookies either. It can't identify you individually or follow you across other sites.
- ·Clerk's session cookie — keeps you signed in
- ·Browser sessionStorage — stops the same tab counting a view twice
7. How long it is kept
- ·Photos and their metadata — until deleted
- ·View history — removed once it is older than 35 days
- ·Account data — until the account is deleted
8. Deleting your data
You can delete any photo you uploaded from its page. Deleting removes the image, its view history and its likes.
To delete your entire account, email contact@ifspotters.com. We will verify it's you, then remove the account and its uploads.
9. Requests to external APIs
Aircraft and livery suggestions in the upload form come from the Infinite Flight Live API. No personal information is sent in those requests.
